Where Swing Along Toy Started:
Hi, my name is Sarah – When I was in middle school, I was playing in my backyard with my dolls. I wanted my doll to swing on the seat next to me, but I couldn’t figure out how to get her to stay on the swing seat. I tried tying her arms to the swing chains, I made a seat out of one of my mom’s food storage containers. Nothing worked. My doll would fall off onto the dirty ground, hang by her hair and it was no fun at all!
My dad & I started experimenting with different ways to have my doll sit on a swing seat – we went through about 4 different designs until I came up with my patented Swing Along Toy. The back of the seat is adjustable to allow different size dolls or stuffed animals fit on it. The Velcro strap attaches easily to a swing seat at my school’s playground or to the deck in my back yard when I have tea parties with my toys. The adjustable strap fits snugly around my toys making them secure in their seat. The toys and dolls sit up nicely and I can have hours of imaginary play.
You see, I’m virtually an only child – my big brother, Steven was 16 when I was born. It’s hard to always find someone to play with. A lot of the time, I will play by myself with my dolls and make up all kinds of different adventures!
I’m proud to be the owner of a United States Patent at only 12 years old. I created a toy that no one else has ever invented! That’s awesome – do you agree?

A few months after I came up with Swing Along, my brother, Steven was diagnosed with a type of lymphoma. It was a very scary time in our lives. His tumor was the fastest growing human tumor. It could double in size in 24 hours. He had a big growth under his arm and the cancer was in his neck and his belly. He spent 4 months in the hospital for treatment and was very sick. He could hardly eat anything – we would bring him plain white steamed rice because it was the only thing that would stay down. I didn’t work on my invention for quite a while.
Happily, Steven is OK today. His doctors say that they are looking for him to be cured of this scary lymphoma and when he goes to the hospital for his next scan, they hope that the tumors will all be gone.
